Joseph C. Daniels
Senior Advisor for Economic Development, NYC
Joe Daniels is Chief Executive Officer of Team IMPACT, where his experience and passion for building community will ensure more children facing serious illness or disability will have the opportunity to be part of a team. Joe has served as the founding president and CEO of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, where he led development, planning, design, ramp-up and on-going operations of both the Memorial and the Museum for 10 years. During his tenure and leadership, the institution raised more than $500 million, grew to approximately 500 in-house and contracted personnel and a more than $80 million operating budget. During his tenure, he worked closely with (and deeply benefited from) his Chairman, Michael R. Bloomberg as well as the more than 40+ other directors ranging from business and cultural leaders to 9/11 family members.
Following the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Joe served as president and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum (NMHM), where he spearheaded the effort to create the United States’ first ever institution dedicated to preserving the legacies of the recipients of the country’s highest award for valor in combat. He led the critical effort to build a first-class Board of Directors, raised $80 million during the pandemic years, ran a national competition for site selection, and finalized museum design leading to the groundbreaking on May 25, 2022 in Arlington, TX.
He has been recognized by numerous organizations for his talent and leadership, including the Aspen Institute as a Henry Crown Fellow, US-Japan Leadership Program Fellow and a British America Project Fellow.
“When Joe Daniels was hired, Ground Zero was a hole in the ground and the memorial and museum were plans on the drawing board. Thanks in no small measure to Joe’s outstanding leadership, we now have a magnificent tribute to all those who lost their lives and gave their service on 9/11.”
